#19 – Light

I can relate to the old window shutter.
It has lived:
Paint wearing off.
Dangling; rusty latch; open;
Gazing down the street.

Trying to see a future that’s hazy, or
Perhaps hard to see.
But there’s light, and
It’s bright,
To help me believe.

The past is behind,
Out of sight.
It’s early,
No noise or distractions,
Juts space to reflect and be.

On quiet days like this
I like to walk empty streets
Forget the past
And dream of a future
I’d like to live.

And years from now,
I too hope to be old, rusty,
Still open, serving a purpose,
With remnants of life,
Etched all over me…
