#19 - Light

I can relate to the old window shutter.[br_tc] It has lived:[br_tc] Paint wearing off.[br_tc] Dangling; rusty latch; open;[br_tc] Gazing down the street.

Trying to see a future that’s hazy, or[br_tc] Perhaps hard to see.[br_tc] But there’s light, and[br_tc] It’s bright,[br_tc] To help me believe.

The past is behind,[br_tc] Out of sight.[br_tc] It’s early,[br_tc] No noise or distractions,[br_tc] Juts space to reflect and be.

On quiet days like this[br_tc] I like to walk empty streets[br_tc] Forget the past[br_tc] And dream of a future[br_tc] I’d like to live.

And years from now,[br_tc] I too hope to be old, rusty,[br_tc] Still open, serving a purpose,[br_tc] With remnants of life,[br_tc] Etched all over me...
