#21 – A smile
There is a tree along a small passageway
Near where we live.
It bears no fruit,
Only purple flowers.
Yesterday one lay on the ground,
Alone, with nothing around.
The wind may blow it away,
Or an errant foot,
Crush it to nothingness.
But in the meanwhile,
It does what comes naturally:
Adding color to a small passageway
Where it lives.
– – – – – –
A bloom fell off a tree.
I didn’t see it, she did.
Late in the day,
Looking at the picture together
Made us smile.
And I slept with this image in mind.
This morning, I promised myself:
Today, I’ll also try,
To make someone smile…
