We planted the tree
On a cold winter day
Many seasons ago.
Every summer,
We look through branches and leaves,
Searching for signs,
Of nature’s bounty.
Only this year did we find,
One lonely walnut,
Hanging tight on a branch.
It’s ok.
It’s a start.
I’m keeping it on a table,
In my house.
It reminds me of hope,
And those in my life:
Hard shells,
With beauty inside…
