#3 – On the road
Today was travel day. We drove from Northern Spain to central Switzerland. It was a blistering hot day, we had a full, heavy car and drove with the windows open all the way. Stopping often to wet our faces and hair felt good. We weren’t in a hurry. The sights along the way were varied, some expected, others not. But looking at the pictures at the end of the day showed different views, perspectives and mostly things I had missed. Driving does that.
An old car in pristine condition reflecting of our image as we drive past. To age graciously, like that car. Maybe seeing it on the road wasn’t such a coincidence.
Lake Geneva, ploughed fields, distant towering mountains. All beautiful. And an orange SOS sign. A reminder of life, what’s important and not to get carried away…
There was one other scene along the way imprinted on my mind – field after field of sunflowers. But their faces were always drooping, as if too tired and drained from the unrelenting heat of a cloudless summer day. Bowing their faces to the ground in unison, they still appeared beautiful and majestic.
